Tour Highlights

Two hour group tours operate at Rocking Horse Lodge with the following features:

Chris will show you his workshop and tell you how he came to be a rocking horse maker; show you the stages in making a horse; show and tell you things you didn’t know about Carousel Horses and talk to you about our special 3 Day Rocking Horse Making Classes.

Viktoria will tell you about fitting out modern rocking horses; show you old horses by the major Australian & English makers; teach you how to date & identify them; followed by a Homestead, Loft and Hobby Farm Tour.

A Country Retreat

Rocking Horse Lodge is a country retreat set on 10 acres. Enjoy the peace and serenity, clean fresh country air and hospitality. Take time off from the fast lane. Only 52 kms from Sydney in the picturesque Hawkesbury.

Chris & Viktoria are Australia’s only full-time Rocking Horse Makers & Teachers and will happily provide you with every thing you wanted to know about antique rocking horses and their making.

Things to Do

• Tour the Rocking Horse Maker’s Workshop and learn how modern
  rocking horses are made in production quanitities by one couple
• Learn about Antique & Vintage rocking horses and how to identify and
  date Australian and English rocking horses
• Tour the Antique & Vintage Pram, High Chair, Basinette collections. See some lovely hand made porcelain dolls. See the antique decked Loft Bed & Breakfast Accommodation
• Have Old Fashioned Morning/Afternoon Tea of tea/coffee pumpkin or
  friut scones with home made jams and lashings of cream.
• Collect the Chook and Duck Eggs
• See the many varieties of chooks, ducks and geese - chicks in tow
  depending on the season
• See & Hand Feed the Black Face Suffolk Sheep flock
  

Collections

Viktoria & Chris collect Antiques of Childhood and Rocking Horses. The Loft has two antique bassinettes with Viktoria’s handmade porcelain babies.
The Homestead houses a growing antique pram & high chair collection and features an ornate American Reed Victorian pram circa 1890 in the bay window.

The Loft at Rocking Horse Lodge

The Loft is  Home/Farmstay Bed & Breakfast Accommodation.
If no guests are staying at the time, Viktoria will happily show you this delightful antique bedecked Loft, with Double wrought & brass bed, Federation ensuite Dining area, TV/Sitting  area, Spectacular view of Pitt Town Bottoms & Antique Bassinettes & Porcelain Babies.

Visit the nearby Macquarie towns of Windsor and Richmond, which boast many historic buildings, a paddle wheeler, quaint cafes & an Antiques, Collectables and Vintage Wares Trail for those who love to potter among our heritage.
